About Southern Accent
It all started with a momma who just wanted better for her family.
I'm not exactly what you'd call a girly girl.
So naturally, I decided to start a skincare company. 😂
I've never been the person with a 12-step skincare routine. I'm about as simple of a gal as it gets. I like products that work, and I really like products that work without a bunch of junk I can't pronounce.
It started with wanting something better for my teenage daughter and for my own skin as I entered my early 40s.
Then my husband and son got in on it, too, using my tallow on their rough hands and all those everyday scrapes, bumps, and dry spots that come with farm life.
Somewhere along the way, I became a little obsessed with tallow.
You know how some people seem to have one product they think can fix just about anything?
I've become that person. I reach for tallow for just about everything. 😂
Why Tallow?
For me, tallow was one of those “why didn't I know about this sooner?“ discoveries.
We're big believers in keeping things simple and choosing God-given options in our everyday lives whenever we can.
Tallow seemed like one of those old-fashioned, time-tested ingredients I'd somehow been missing out on. So I gave it a try, and my skin only ever seemed to like it more.
So I started making tallow skincare for my daughter and myself. I wanted to simplify what we were putting on our skin and get away from all the unnecessary stuff that seemed to be in so many skincare products. Before long, the rest of the family was getting in on it, too.
Then something interesting started happening.
People who bought our farm products began commenting on my skin and asking what I was using. When they found out I was making tallow skincare for myself and my daughter, they wanted to try it, too.
“Can you make some for us?“
And that's really how Southern Accent began. What started as something I made for my family quickly became something other people wanted, too. 😂
So why do we call it Southern Accent?
Well... if you've ever heard me talk, you probably already know. 😂
But Southern Accent is about more than just the way I sound.
There's something about Southern life that makes us appreciate the simple things: working with what we have, taking care of our families, knowing what's in the things we use, and not making something complicated when it doesn't need to be. It's about slowing down, being intentional, taking pride in doing things with care, and finding value in the simple things that have always worked.
And an accent isn't just the way you speak. It's something that adds character and makes something stand out. We like to think of it as a little nod to “accentuate,” to bring out what's already there and make it a little more special.
So, we're adding a little Southern Accent to skincare: simple ingredients, intentional choices, a slower approach, and the values we believe in. That's what Southern Accent is all about: knowing why we're putting something in the jar and never adding something just because we can.
And, of course, everyone loves a little Southern accent. 😉

We're not interested in chasing every new skincare trend or making things complicated just for the sake of it.
Every ingredient needs to earn its place. If it doesn't have an amazing purpose for your skin, it doesn't make the cut.
We believe there's something pretty wonderful about getting back to simple.
That's why we handcraft our products in small batches right here in New London, North Carolina, using carefully selected ingredients and 100% grass-fed tallow.

I've overheard my daughter talking up tallow to her friends, convincing many of them to ditch their favorite skincare products and switch to tallow.
My husband has become a tallow convert.
And my son has put it to the test on his rough hands.
What started as something I made for my family has become something we're proud to share with yours.
